The African American Dance Ensemble

The African American Dance Ensemble posed with Aversboro students after performing at our school on March 3, 2005.

Almost Recess performed on the Aversboro stage - October 21, 2003.

Doug Berky performed Gems: Stories of Wisdom From Around the World on April 5, 2005.

Willa Brigham

Willa Brigham presented a storytelling program at Aversboro Elementary on March 18, 2005.

Clint Chartier

Clint Chartier presented a program on Native American culture on October 8, 2004.

Grey Seal Puppets presented Bathtub Pirates on March 13, 2003.

In "Bathtub Pirates", presented by Grey Seal Puppets, Captain Blackbeard takes over a child's bathtub as his ship.

The Healing Force

The Healing Force performs The Rhythm of the Drum.

The Healing Force performed "The Rhythm of the Drum" to celebrate African culture through music and storytelling.

A performer with The Healing Force demonstrates the sound of her authentic African instrument.

The Healing Force brought many authenic African instruments to share with the Aversboro students.

The Infinity Ballet Company performed at Aversboro on November 4, 2003.

The Kinetyx Dance Ensemble, part of Martha Connerton/Kinetic Works Dance Company, appeared at Aversboro on February 6, 2003.

The Magic of African Rhythm

The Magic of African Rhythm performers posed with Aversboro students after their concert on April 15, 2003.

The Shabu family combine their skills in the African art forms of dancing, drumming, singing, and storytelling to create The Magic of African Rhythm and Djembe Fire!

Leni Newell

Leni Newell, Artist in Residence, guided students to create silk banners for our school.

Leni Newell is an award winning professional artist from Raleigh. She worked with fifth grade students during two different art residencies to create the silk banners hanging in the cafeteria.

Suzanne Newton, writer in residence, listens as a student shares his work.

Opera Carolina

Mr. Bobbitt appeared as a policeman at the end of Opera Carolina's production of Pinocchio on February 18, 2004.

Aversboro's own Mr. Bobbitt appeared as a policeman during Opera Carolina's production of "Pinocchio" during the 2003-2004 school year. Opera Carolina presented "The Billy Goats Gruff" during the 2004-2005 school year.

StageWorks Theatre

Members of StageWorks Theatre with Aversboro students.

The cast of StageWorks Theatre taught the elements of a story - character, location, action, and plot - through improvisational theater.

Steel and Djembe Jubolee
The Steel and Djembe Jubolee invited Aversboro students to join them for "A Festival of Drums and Percussion" during the 2005-2006 school year. The Steel and Djembe Jubolee perform at Aversboro Elementary.

The Symphony Winds with Mrs. Hopkins and Aversboro students.

Bruce Tippette

Bruce Tippette, son of Martha Tippette and former Aversboro student, performed piano music for Aversboro students in 2004 and 2005.

Many of these programs are supported by grants from the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County, Inc., with funds from the Grassroots Arts Program of the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency, and Wake County Government and the Wake County Public School System.
